Kansas City Royals fans need to get out there and vote for their Royals to make the 2017 All-Star Game! Fans especially need to get Mike Moustakas into the game, as he’s having a phenomenal 2017 season.

We’re less than three weeks away from the 2017 MLB All-Star Game and the Kansas City Royals currently have two guys set to start for the American League squad. Those two guys are Salvador Perez and Eric Hosmer.

Perez is destroying the competition at the catcher position with approximately 401,950 more votes than the second place recipient in Brian McCann of the Astros. Perez has been to four straight All-Star Games and tends to lead the pack by a wide margin every year.

Hosmer, on the other hand, just jumped up to the top spot among first baseman as recently as Tuesday. He’s leading Yonder Alonso of the Athletics by around 49,000 votes.

Both of these guys definitely deserve to be at the All-Star Game in Miami, but what’s surprising to me is how little respect Mike Moustakas is getting in the voting process. Moose is flat out crushing the baseball this season, which is evidenced by his 19 home runs and .277 batting average.

Moustakas went to the All-Star Game in 2015, a year in which he hit .284. That was the season where Royals fans went nuts with voting for their team, but Moustakas missed the final cut. He was voted into the game by (Royals) fans and got to play for a bit, which was cool.

Moustakas deserves to represent the American League this year too, but isn’t even in the top five vote-getters at third base. Here are the results at the moment, courtesy of MLB.com:

More from Kansas City Royals

"THIRD BASE1. Miguel Sano, Twins: 1,302,0902. Jose Ramirez, Indians: 891,7313. Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays: 810,6484. Manny Machado, Orioles: 803,9215. Alex Bregman, Astros: 688,450"

I’m not going to argue against the top three, but Machado and Bregman aren’t more deserving of going to Miami than Moustakas. Machado is batting .227 and Bregman is batting .254, which are both far lower than Moose’s impressive .277 average.

Moustakas also should go to the All-Star Game because he could be a great participant to have in the Home Run Derby. This is something that Kansas City Royals fans typically don’t get into as much, as their guys are never included in it (usually for good reason too).

With his hot hitting at the plate and his great defensive skills (though I know that’s not taken into account with All-Star voting), Mike Moustakas should, without a doubt, be apart of this year’s All-Star Game. Make sure to vote, Royals fans!
