The Kansas City Chiefs saw two players make the NFL Top 100 list on Monday and one of them was Marcus Peters, who came in at number 32. The list is voted on by the NFL players themselves, which makes it even more special.

To the surprise of no one, Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters has made his second straight appearance on the NFL Top 100 in only two years in the league. Peters has impressed everyone with his ability to cover receivers and pick the football off.

In just two seasons in the league, Peters already has 14 interceptions to his name. He’s been named to the Pro Bowl in both seasons and was an All-Pro corner in 2016. Fans questioned the pick of Marcus Peters when the Chiefs drafted him in round one in 2015, but those fans have definitely admitted they’re wrong now.

Last season, Peters played a huge role in getting the Chiefs the victory in week ten against the Carolina Panthers. If you don’t remember, the teams were less than 30 seconds away from the end of the game and the Panthers were driving to try and kick the game winning field goal.

Cam Newton threw the ball to Kelvin Benjamin, who began to run down the field. Peters saw his opportunity and stripped the ball out of Benjamin’s grasp. While I admired Peter’s skills before that game, watching him strip the ball from Benjamin was such a veteran move and it was hard to believe a second year corner knew to do that.

The video on NFL.com has several other NFL cornerbacks giving Peters his props, including Casey Hayward and Richard Sherman, who are two of the best corners in the league. Peters has gained recognition since his rookie year, but his production has continued to impress.

Peters could have easily had more than six picks in 2016, but a lot of teams were smart and didn’t throw his way. That led to less opportunities for him to intercept the football.

Once the Kansas City Chiefs can get a legitimate number two opposite of Marcus Peters, this Chiefs secondary will be one of the best in the NFL. Someone on the video even said that Peters is headed in the direction of becoming his own island. That’d be great if he could continue that success and stay in Kansas City for a long time.

As for the rest of the Chiefs to appear on the list so far, Alex Smith was 81st, Justin Houston was 76th, and Tyreek Hill, also revealed on Monday, came in at 36th. Travis Kelce and Derrick Johnson have still yet to be revealed.

Peters made a jump from 65 to 32 this year and is obviously becoming one of the best corners in the league.
