JASON VARGAS

Jason Vargas will take the mound on Friday night in a critical game 1 against the Tribe. Vargas hasn’t been as untouchable as he was in the first month and a half of the season, but he’s still been pretty darn good.

Vargy has an ERA of 2.39, best for a long-term starter on the Royals so far and has a record of 6-3. Vargas’ last game came against Cleveland and he threw 5.2 innings of two run baseball while surrendering nine hits on the day.

Royals fans have seen Vargas fall back down to Earth a bit this season after being so dominant for the first quarter of the season. He’s still been good, but there have been games where he’s been knocked around a bit, and I worry that one of those games could be on the agenda for Friday.

Hopefully Vargas can put his team in a good position to win, but if the offense goes cold again, don’t expect Jason Vargas to walk away a winner on Friday evening at the K.
