Kansas City Chiefs: Grading Each Selection in 2017 NFL Draft
It was no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs needed a running back. This draft was stacked with talented backs and the Chiefs decided to trade up to grab one that they really liked.
That back was Kareem Hunt out of Toledo, who has the best chance out of this draft class to actually start in 2017. While Hunt comes from a smaller school, he caught the eyes of many after his impressive performance in the Senior Bowl, where he rushed for over 100 yards on the day.
The Chiefs will need that type of running from their newest addition, as their rushing attack was pretty terrible a season ago. I liked the Chiefs grabbing a running back in the third round, as it meant they were all about addressing one of the biggest areas of concern on the team.
Trading up didn’t bother me one bit. Like Mahomes, the KC Chiefs saw a player they liked, and they went all in for him. Well done.
