KC Royals: Five Players to Watch in First Series vs Chicago White Sox
WHIT MERRIFIELD
Whit Merrifield hit a triple in the third game of the Rangers series and wasn’t able to score due to the lackluster offense behind him. Sad!
The best part about Merrifield is that he has the ability to play almost anywhere on the diamond.
Merrifield has been one of the few guys hitting the ball and he was in Omaha a week ago playing with the minor league guys. I hope the Royals don’t send him down anytime soon because he really needs to be up in the majors contributing to this lineup.
In 19 at bats so far, Merrifield has five hits, two RBI, one run, and one home run. He batted leadoff on Sunday, which could very well continue for the next few games while Ned Yost tries to figure out a lineup that works for this team.
The best part about Merrifield is that he has the ability to play almost anywhere on the diamond. He’ll likely be spending most of his time at second base while Raul Mondesi Jr. spends some time in Omaha, but he can also start anywhere in the outfield as well.
That’s the kind of player that’s beneficial for any team and the fact that he’s hitting as well has solidified why Whit Merrifield should remain on this team.
