Sporting KC Match Grades
Individual Performances
Just getting a win like this is an impressive feat for Sporting KC. However, to have been a difference maker in such a close match stands out even more. It is only right to give the stars of this game their due acknowledgments.
That’s two goals in two weeks for SKC’s top scoring threat. Dom Dwyer is starting to get back to form, and that is big news for Sporting. It was a fantastic goal for Dwyer and the offense as they completely fooled the Portland defense.
To shut out the top scoring team in MLS, it takes a little something special. Tim Melia had yet another stellar performance in goal for Sporting KC, and is having a very good year. Melia has just allowed two goals all season long. Yes, a lot of that can be attributed to the defense around him. However, you have to give the goalkeeper his due.

Sporting KC is now sitting in second place in the MLS Western Conference. Considering the slow start the team got off to, that is very impressive. SKC is one of two unbeaten teams left in all of MLS…and they take on that other unbeaten, FC Dallas, next week. Hopefully Sporting can keep up their winning ways.
