Kansas City Royals Series Grades

Game Three: Royals Win 3-1

Despite losing the series, there is some comfort in seeing the Kansas City Royals winning a low-scoring game. While unimpressive on its surface, this is a big step forward for the KC pitching staff and bullpen. The Royals bullpen especially has been suspect this year. So holding onto a tight game is a good sign.

Kansas City Royals. GAME THREE. B. Don’t get it twisted, winning a low-scoring game is a good sign but we still want more out of the offense. However, a win is a win, and they have been hard to come by early this year.. W

Jason Vargas racked up his (team leading) second win of the season with a very strong performance. Vargas went nearly eight scoreless innings for KC. The bullpen came in and cleaned it up despite Kelvin Herrera giving up a homerun in the ninth. It was a solid overall performance for the Royals pitchers.

Runs didn’t come easy for Kansas City hitters, but they were getting on base. Eight hits and three walks isn’t a bad performance, but they need to get better at manufacturing runs. Even the disappointing Brandon Moss was able to get in on the action in this one, driving in a late run.
