Kansas City Royals Series Grades

Game One: Royals Lose 0-2

When we look back on the most disappointing moments of this year for the Kansas City Royals, it’s hard to imagine any game will top this. A heartfelt tribute for a fan and clubhouse favorite in Yordano Ventura was left flat by a terrible performance for the Royals. These are games that you have to be able to win, regardless of records.

F. A two run loss isn’t that horrible…except when you’re getting shut out in the process. On top of that, of all the games the Royals played this year, this was the one they absolutely needed to win. This was a big let down for everyone in Kansas City.. L. Kansas City Royals. GAME ONE

You can’t really fault the pitching in this one. Ian Kennedy earned his second loss of the year, despite another decent showing. Kennedy gave up just two runs on six hits. The bullpen was also effective as Peter Moylan and Mike Minor combined for three scoreless innings. You really can’t ask for much better from the pitching staff.

As for the batters, you can ask for a whole lot more. The Royals have to be able to give their pitchers at least some support. There isn’t even a bright spot to pull from this performance, it was just simply bad.
