Kansas City Royals Series Grades

Game 1: Royals Lose 1-7

It was a pretty miserable way to open the season, especially for the Kansas City Royals bullpen. The Royals relievers completely blew a gem from Danny Duffy. Meanwhile, the bats were ridiculously quiet. It’s not the kind of game that inspires confidence when you’re playing a team that is supposed to be inferior.

F. There is no spinning this one. It sucked. Fortunately, we can say “It’s just one game.” However, this is never the way to start off the season.. L. Kansas City Royals. GAME ONE

Matt Strahm was particularly awful, allowing four runs on only 11 pitches. He actually managed to more than double his career ERA with that performance. He came out of this game sitting on a 108 ERA…yeah, no decimal in there.

As for the offense, only Mike Moustakas showed any real life with a solid home run in his second at bat. There were some other small offensive sparks, but nothing really substantial. All in all, it was not a good day to be a Royals hitter.
