ROYALS BOLD PREDICTIONS – DUFFY WINS 20 GAMES

When it comes to key players in 2017, Danny Duffy has to be at the top of the list after getting his extension this past offseason. Duffy had a great year in 2016 and the Royals are counting on him to continue that excellence on the mound this season.

Duffy won 12 games last season, which was the most in his career, and really should have won a few more had it not been for the lack of offense on his team.

That’s why my next bold prediction is that Danny Duffy, aka “Duffman”, will win 20 games for the KC Royals in 2017.

Duffy won 12 games last season, which was the most in his career, and really should have won a few more had it not been for the lack of offense on his team. I think he’ll embrace the ace role this season and will dominate on the mound.

Only three pitchers recorded 20 or more wins last season in MLB. Those guys were Rick Porcello (22), Max Scherzer (20), and J.A. Happ (20). That proves how difficult it is to record that many wins. You’re relying not only on your own pitching abilities, but your offense’s ability to score runs and make sure the right team is leading.

So, yeah… I’d say if Duffy recorded 20 wins this season, he’d definitely be in the running for the Cy Young Award, which could be another bold prediction for this season, but won’t be one that I delve into.
