BEN HEENEY (Fifth-Round Pick, 140th Overall in 2015 NFL Draft)

The first Jayhawk off the board in 2015’s draft was Ben Heeney, who was an Oakland Raider before teammate Dexter McDonald was.

Heeney had some hype heading into the draft and was the only real guarantee for Kansas to have someone taken in the draft. He became the 140th overall pick, which made him the earliest guy to be drafted since Darrell Stuckey (110th in 2010).

Heeney has seen some action in the NFL, starting five games in two seasons and appearing in 19 total games. He recorded two  and a half sacks as a rookie, but didn’t sniff a sack in 2016. He did notch 11 tackles though.

With the Raiders looking to improve their defense drastically this offseason, Ben Heeney could either be a nice piece to play on the field or an easy choice to cut during the offseason.

Hopefully he’ll get to remain in the NFL.
