Sporting KC Top Players To Watch: #7

Gerso Fernandes – Winger

While USA soccer has improved over the years, it is still always a good sign for a club like Sporting KC to sign international talent. With Gerso Fernandes, formerly of of Belenenses of Portugal’s Primera Liga, Sporting has added a veteran of a top European league. He should be able to step in right away with the starters.

Gerso Fernandes is not a star player, but he has been playing at the highest level. At the very least, that experience should help Sporting KC’s squad. With a number of youngsters being added to the mix, getting a guy with some quality experience is big. It’s not the kind of transaction that will bring big individual numbers, but may help the team as a whole.

Another plus in signing Gerso Fernandes is that his contract runs for three years, with a fourth year option. That means Sporting KC can continue to build without much fear of losing their international player.
