Kansas City Chiefs fans breathed a sigh of relief after the division rival Broncos chose to hire Miami Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph instead of Chiefs Special Teams Coach Dave Toub.

While the Kansas City Chiefs are getting ready for the postseason, some members of the organization are thinking about their future. One of those individuals is Special Teams Coach Dave Toub. Toub has recently interviewed for both the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers vacancies at Head Coach. However, it appears Toub will not be getting the job in Denver.

Instead, it appears that the Broncos will be hiring Vance Joseph who was the Miami Dolphins Defensive Coordinator (DC) this past season. It’s a bit of a curious hire for John Elway. While Joseph is respected around the league, he has only spent one season as a DC in the NFL or NCAA. Prior to this season, Joseph had only ever been a Defensive Backs Coach.

However, if this is indeed the move the Broncos are making, it is good news for Chiefs fans. Dave Toub has been a bit of a hot name this year, and getting two interviews had many KC faithful holding their breath. Coach Toub has gotten high praise over the past couple of weeks from Head Coach Andy Reid.

There is still a chance that Dave Toub will end up with the San Diego Chargers, or perhaps another team. However, crossing the Broncos off the list is definitely good news. If the Chiefs Special Teams Coach did leave the organization for another job, we should all hope that it is at least in another division!

The Kansas City Chiefs have emerged as a top tier team in the NFL, and Coach Dave Toub’s Special Teams are a major reason for that. The Chiefs have been very dangerous on kick and punt returns over the past few seasons, and the coverage units are just as good. Keeping Coach Toub in the fold should absolutely be a priority.
