Jarrod Dyson leaving sucks for all KC Royals fans, but this is a business. The Royals have to try and stay relevant, and that means selling off some of their most beloved players.

Whenever Jarrod Dyson entered a game as a pinch runner, you knew some bases were about to get stolen. The 32-year old speedster had swiped 176 bags in his seven seasons as a Royal, an was only caught stealing 30 times.

The Royals have other fast guys on their team like Terrance Gore and Raul Mondesi, but those two guys aren’t as near and dear to Royals fans’ hearts like Dyson was. The guy loved being a member of the Royals and always seemed so ecstatic to go out there and play with his team.

Dyson was the clubhouse guy who motivated the team and always kept them at their absolutely best. It’s going to be tough to see him go somewhere else, but at the end of the day, Dayton Moore knows what he’s doing and it was probably smart to move Dyson while the Royals could still get something from him.

My way of coping with the trade has been to watch all of these highlights while blaring the theme song from Dawson’s Creek. It’s weirdly helping.

Best of luck to you, Jarrod Dyson! Kansas City will miss you! You’ll always be Forever Royal!
