The Kansas City Chiefs finished first in their division, which means they’ll be facing other first-place teams in the AFC for the 2017 season. Who are all of the opponents that the Chiefs will see in 2017?

With the 2016 regular season wrapping up this past weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs now know who their opponents will be for the 2017 season.

This likely hasn’t even entered the mind of the Chiefs or their fans, but I always like to talk about it. I like looking at the schedule to see the best games on the slate for next season.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play their usual slew of AFC West foes and also will face the AFC East, NFC East, and the winners of the AFC North and AFC South. The NFC East might be the next toughest division after the AFC West, so the 2017 schedule could be an incredibly tough one.

  • Here are who the Chiefs will host at Arrowhead in 2017 (asterisk indicates that team made playoffs in 2016):

    • Denver Broncos (AFC West)
    • Oakland Raiders (AFC West)*
    • San Diego Chargers (AFC West)
    • Buffalo Bills (AFC East)
    • Miami Dolphins (AFC East)*
    • Pittsburgh Steelers (AFC North)*
    • Philadelphia Eagles (NFC East)
    • Washington Redskins (NFC East)

The Chiefs will see the Buffalo Bills for the eighth time in the last nine seasons. The 2016 season was actually the first time the two hadn’t faced each other since 2007. The Bills have been one of those annoying non-division rivals for the Chiefs, but at least this one is at Arrowhead.

Now let’s check out where the Chiefs will travel to in 2017.

    More from Kansas City Chiefs

    • Denver Broncos
    • Oakland Raiders*
    • San Diego Chargers
    • New England Patriots (AFC East)*
    • New York Jets (AFC East)
    • Houston Texans (AFC South)*
    • Dallas Cowboys (NFC East)*
    • New York Giants (NFC East)*

The road schedule is pretty brutal, with the Chiefs having to travel to four teams that made the playoffs in 2016. The games in Foxboro and Dallas will be the most difficult, but who knows what could change between now and then.

Kansas City will once again have to travel to Houston, their fourth time there in three seasons. The Chiefs haven’t hosted the Texans since the 2013 season.

While the NFC East was a great division in 2016, they were the biggest joke the season prior, with the Redskins barely making the playoffs at 9-7. That’s how quickly divisions can change in the NFL.

The 2017 season schedule looks tough, but if there’s a KC Chiefs team that we’d want facing these opponents, it’s the one we’ve been watching these past few months. They’ve been a lot of fun.
