Kansas City Chiefs fans are always excited when a rookie shows up early on in his first season. This season, however, several KC Chiefs rookies are making analysts notice them, and that’s pretty cool.
Heading into the 2016 regular season, fans weren’t the happiest with the way John Dorsey had spent some of the team’s draft picks.
In the 2016 draft, Dorsey traded away the first round pick for a second rounder and to get a third rounder back. People weren’t thrilled about that, especially when he later waived the third round pick Kei’Varae Russell for reasons we’re still not certain of.
Fast forward to the half way mark of the 2016 season and fans couldn’t be happier with the decisions that Dorsey has made.

Two rookies in particular have caught the eye of Pro Football Focus’ Michael Renner, who put out a list of the top ten rookies heading into this weekend’s games. Those two guys, you ask? Chris Jones and Tyreek Hill.
Jones was the aforementioned second round pick and was an absolute steal for the Kansas City Chiefs. What was supposed to be a work in progress while figuring out what might happen to Dontari Poe next year, Jones has stepped in due to injuries and played lights out defense.
"I don’t think it’s too early to say that the Chiefs have something special with their rookie defensive tackle. The scary part is that, at 22 years old, Jones is already winning with pure physicality."
As for Hill, he would likely be a candidate for Rookie of the Year if Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott weren’t wheeling and dealing down in Dallas. He’s made everyone in the country notice him for his football skills.

Hill has won AFC Offensive Player of the Week as well as AFC Special Teams Player of the Week and has racked up nine touchdowns so far this season. Six of those were receiving touchdowns, one was a rushing score, one a kickoff returned for six, and one punt returned for a touchdown.
"Somewhat fortuitously, I wrote last Thursday morning about how the biggest difference for this Chiefs’ roster compared to those of years’ past is the amount of playmakers on offense. Specifically, Tyreek Hill."
It’s always great to see the KC Chiefs get something out of a rookie. Last year we saw Marcus Peters kick butt and take names with his eight interceptions in the regular season. He went on to win Defensive Rookie of the Year.
This year, the Chiefs have something special on their hands with Jones and Hill.

I know I learned my lesson when it comes to doubting John Dorsey in the draft. The lesson is to not doubt him and trust that he knows what he’s doing.
Could the KC Chiefs’ 2016 NFL Draft go down as one of their best ever?
