KC Royals news consists of two players on the team being deemed “overrated” and about all of the Royals rumors out there, which may or may not eventually turn into some kind of trade.

Winter meetings are over with, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from bringing up names within the Kansas City Royals organization. The latest appears to be that several teams are eyeing Royals starters Danny Duffy and Yordano Ventura.

These two guys are in line to be the number one and two guys in the Royals rotation in 2017, so it’d be difficult to see the team parting ways with them. Perhaps some type of major deal is in place though, or maybe Dayton Moore doesn’t see potential with one or neither guy.

Between the two, Duffy would be the one more likely to be traded in my opinion due to him becoming a free agent after the 2017 season. Ventura is still under control through 2019 and has shown huge potential with that flame throwing ability he possesses.

In other KC Royals news, Matt Snyder of CBS Sports (article linked below) put out his list of the most overrated MLB players at each position and had two Royals on it. Those guys were Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez.

I don’t know about you guys, but when I first saw the article, my first reaction was, “Oh no he didn’t!” But yes…. Yes, he did. He wrote that Perez makes a ton of outs on offense for the Royals and that Hosmer just isn’t that great for what he’s supposed to be in the league.

Sigh.

The most overrated players in MLB in 2016 at each position [Matt Snyder, CBS Sports]

"On Salvy:Some might say he has good power, after 22 home runs last season, but did you know that 88 players hit at least 22 home runs and 79 hit more than 22?~~~On Hosmer:You’re looking at a roughly, overall, league average hitter manning a position that should have a big-time bopper."

Potential suitors for Lorenzo Cain and Jarrod Dyson [Max Rieper, Royals Review]

Obviously people in Kansas City are going to have some beef with Matt Snyder after writing an article like that. Perez has been to four straight All-Star games, starting three of those, and has won four Gold Glove awards as well.

Hosmer, the other guy Snyder deemed “overrated” went to his first ever All-Star Game in 2016 and was the freaking MVP of the damn thing.

Maybe this is a good thing for the Kansas City Royals though, as an overrated Hosmer might not get as much money on the free agent market next winter. That could mean a potential re-signing of him to keep him in a Royals jersey for the duration of his career.

What do you think, Royals fans? Are these two overrated or is this guy all jacked up on Mountain Dew?
