KC Chiefs: Andy Reid Not Leaving for Los Angeles Rams Job
The KC Chiefs have a good thing going right now under head coach Andy Reid. Fans shouldn’t expect that to change despite some weird theories floating around.
Monday afternoon brought some early “Black Monday” news to the forefront when the Los Angeles Rams fired head coach Jeff Fisher. Fisher had compiled a 4-9 record with the newly relocated Rams and was given the axe the day after a blowout loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Fisher had been with the Rams since 2012 and his teams went 7-8-1 (2012), 7-9 (2013), 6-10 (2014), 7-9 (2015), and the aforementioned 4-9 (2016). In my opinion, Fisher is one of the most overrated coaches in NFL history.
Anyway, with the firing, theories and potential replacements are being discussed at a rapid pace, and a crazy scenario was brought up on Tuesday by the guys on Fescoe in the Morning on 610 Sports Radio.
That theory involved the Rams calling the Kansas City Chiefs about Andy Reid and sending him over to Los Angeles in a trade. In return, the Chiefs would get two first-round picks and 2016 first overall pick Jared Goff.
Now I know that the guys on 610 were just looking to stir up some good radio for the listeners (which we appreciate), but this won’t happen. For one, the Rams don’t even have a first round pick until the 2018 NFL Draft, which makes it difficult to trade one next season.

Second, the Rams gave up A LOT to draft Goff. Do you really think they’d be willing to just trash him this quickly after giving the Titans a boatload of draft picks?
I sure don’t, though it is worth noting that Washington gave up on RGIII pretty quickly despite giving up a lot to select him second overall (that being to the Rams, ironically).
The guys on Fescoe in the Morning also mentioned that Andy Reid is reportedly having a home built in Los Angeles for after he retires, which could be something else nudging him in that direction. Yeah… In a few years. Not for 2017 or 2018.
Lastly, say this WERE a real scenario – Would the KC Chiefs really be willing to give up the head coach who has turned their franchise around in such a short amount of time? That might be why a team like the Rams is interested in him, due to them needing some flash for their new team in LA, but come on.

The Kansas City Chiefs know what it’s like having bad coaches, doing so for all of the 2000s. The only way they’ll go back down that rabbit hole again is when Reid decides to retire, which hopefully won’t be until after the Chiefs win a Super Bowl.
Quick note – This isn’t a knock on 610. I appreciate their content, but I just wanted to put this article out there and state why this would be a terrible scenario for the KC Chiefs to be apart of. They’ve got their man who will take them to a Super Bowl, and that’s why you play the game.
Everybody likes a good theory here and there, but not this one. Andy’s staying in Kansas City.
