Chiefs Top Raider Week Moments No. 13: Marcus Allen Gets His Revenge

October 3, 1993

The Kansas City Chiefs gave a giant middle finger to the Oakland Raiders when they signed Marcus Allen in 1993. Allen had a terrible parting of ways with Raiders owner Al Davis, and immediately went calling to the rival Chiefs. Kansas City was more than willing to accommodate the future Hall of Famer.

The conflict between Marcus Allen and Al Davis came to a head on Monday Night Football when Allen stated in a pre-taped interview:

"“I think he has tried to ruin the latter part of my career, tried to devalue me and tried to stop me from going to the Hall of Fame. It has been an outright joke to sit on the sidelines and not get an opportunity to play.”"

From there, it was all academic and Marcus Allen became a Chief.

You would think his revenge game against the Raiders would be higher on this list, but in truth it was a bit of a disappointment. The Chiefs won the game, but Marcus Allen played a pretty minimal role and didn’t have a very strong night. Still, getting revenge on the Raiders will always make our list of top moments.
