Chicago Cubs

It appears that the Kansas City Royals are on the verge of making a deal official with the Chicago Cubs. The Cubbies are very interested in acquiring Wade Davis, and have apparently decided that he is worth a top young player. As of right now, the latest rumors have the Cubs acquiring the closer in exchange for 24 year old outfielder Jorge Soler.

Jorge Soler is an excellent young player that has had a tough road to the majors. He made his name known this past season when he belted a triple in Game 3 of the World Series. Many fans claimed that Soler could have stretched the triple into an in-the-park home run. I personally don’t know that he could have, and staying at third was the (by the book) right move. You never make the final out at third or home.

The young Cuban is a natural power hitter with a large frame. He can muscle the ball out of the park, but has working on getting his swing to do more of the work for him. He’s very aggressive at the plate, which can lead him to show a tendency to strike out a lot. In the field, he possesses a cannon for an arm and decent range.
