The Royals rumors are constantly flowing with the winter meetings underway in Washington D.C. It’s been rumored now, however, that just about everyone on the Kansas City Royals team could be traded away at the right price.

Monday was a crazy day as far as Royals rumors go. Four main names appeared to be on the trade block in Lorenzo Cain, Wade Davis, Danny Duffy, and Jarrod Dyson, but it was also reported by John Perrotto that the team is willing to trade nearly anyone.

The two exceptions? Salvador Perez, who will likely be a member of the KC Royals for his entire career, and surprisingly, Danny Duffy. Duffy was linked to a lot of Royals rumors on Monday, but it appears that the left-hander could be one of the few safe from being traded away this offseason.

"Perez is signed through 2021 and the Royals want to keep him as they transition from the core group that helped them to back-to-back World Series appearances in 2014 and 2015, including a championship in ’15, to a younger team. The Royals also would like to sign Duffy to a long-term contract extension. His contract expires after next season, along with such other key players as closer Wade Davis, first baseman Eric Hosmer, third baseman Mike Moustakas, shortstop Alcides Escobar, center fielder Lorenzo Cain and right fielder Jarrod Dyson."

The interesting part of that article is that the team is indeed looking to extend Danny Duffy to a long-term deal. A year ago that didn’t seem the likeliest of scenarios due to him struggling with injuries and being inconsistent on the mound.

After a year where he emerged as a potential ace, Duffy being traded seemed unreal.

Perez not being traded away makes perfect sense. He’s a four-time Gold Glove winner and has been to the All-Star Game in each of those four seasons as well. Not to mention, he was the freakin’ World Series MVP last year. Salvy’s never leaving Kansas City.

While the rest of the roster is up for grabs so to speak, it’s unlikely that other names will be scooped up.

More from Royals Rumors

It is worth noting, however, that just because the Kansas City Royals are hearing trade talks on all but Perez and Duffy, it doesn’t mean that anyone will be traded. There’s a chance no one could get traded if Dayton Moore doesn’t like any of the prospects offered to the Royals.

In my opinion, trading guys like Cain, Davis, and Dyson isn’t a bad idea. The Royals could keep their championship window open longer by cashing in on some of their bigger players while the offerings are out there.

Cain would be the toughest to part ways with due to him being a steady hand in the lineup, but injuries have been an issue for him during his time in Kansas City.

Getting major league ready guys (or close to major league ready guys) for the 2017 season and beyond could keep propelling this season after the big free agents depart. Otherwise, if the Kansas City Royals decide to stand pat, they’ll lose a good chunk of their team after this season and will have to essentially start from scratch.

Perrotto also had a quote from  Ned Yost, who knows that things could be different than expected in 2017.

"However, Yost does know that changes are in store for the Royals, who were plagued by injuries while finishing 81-81 this year and in third place in the American League Central, 13 games behind the Cleveland Indians.“We don’t know what’s going to happen after next year,” Yost said. “We know who we have under control for next year and it’s a really, really good core, nucleus of championship-caliber players."

While the Royals rumors aren’t anywhere close to being done, keep faith that Dayton Moore knows what he’s doing. He got this team to two World Series and won one just a year ago. He knows how to build a competitive baseball team and that should give Royals fans confidence moving forward.
