The Kansas City Chiefs were ranked almost criminally low in FanSided’s Fandom 250 rankings today. Chiefs Kingdom has every right to complain about this call.

It’s not everyday that the Kansas City Chiefs get disrespected by the media…oh wait, sure it is. Once again the Chiefs, or rather Chiefs Kingdom itself, has been snubbed. So why is this one special enough to get my attention? Because I happen to work for the publication responsible for this travesty, FanSided.

When my bosses here at FanSided told me about the Fandom 250 rankings, I kind of laughed. They were set to rank all of the fan bases, not just in the NFL or even in sports in general, but in terms of everything. Actors and actresses, sports teams, individual athletes, fashion lines, and just about everything else under the sun. Some of these things shouldn’t even have fan bases.

Yet somehow the Chiefs were ranked 148th on this list of fan bases. Meanwhile, division rivals Oakland and Denver came in at 53rd and 66th respectively. WHAT?! The Raiders are literally changing their home because they can’t get funding for a new stadium!!! They play on a freaking baseball field!!!

Chiefs Kingdom Reigns

Look, I don’t care who or what we are being compared to, Chiefs Kingdom is one of the premier fan bases in the history of anything. This is the fan base that set the Guinness World Record for stadium noise level at 137.5 decibels. Then, after the Seahawks barely edged us out with 137.6 decibels, we came and made a statement with 142.2 decibels just to make a point.

Chiefs Kingdom is beyond special. Ok, we maaaaybe stole the Tomahawk Chop…but at 142.2 decibels, I’m pretty sure it’s far more effective in our hands anyways. This is “the land of the brave and the home of the CHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEFFFFFFFS!!!! This is a fan base that has held firm through some of the worst years of football ever seen (God, the 80’s were rough). When things get bad for the Raiders, they move.

You want passion? How about a grassroots movement to rid ourselves of a passionless head coach, a lost general manager, and something called a Matt Cassel?! You know what that did? Oh not much, just brought Andy Reid to Kansas City where he re-ignited our winning ways.

Who Did We Beat?

More from Kansas City Chiefs

It’s not all bad news. The Kansas City Chiefs came ranked just ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah, you know, the fan base that once pelted Santa Clause with batteries. Oh, and we edged out the Montreal Canadiens…despite the fact there are like only 10 people left in the US who watch hockey.

Apart from sports teams, the Chiefs also beat out Starbucks. Hurray, we knocked off a coffee chain frequented by amateur poets who pretend they go to college. There’s also Jimmy Fallon at 157th. Yes, KC beat out the guy who single handedly ruined one of the greatest sketches in Saturday Night Live history (More Cowbell) by laughing the whole damn time.

Oh, but here’s the real big one. The Kansas City Chiefs finished just four spots ahead of the Seattle Supersonics. THEY DON’T EVEN FREAKING EXIST ANYMORE!!! You done us wrong FanSided. You done us wrong.

The Kansas City Chiefs fans are a premier fan base and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise (you hear that “boss”?). Chiefs Kingdom is one of the proudest traditions in all of sports, let alone the NFL. It is literally a documented fact in the Guinness Book of World Records. So forget this 148th ranking Chiefs fans. We know where we belong on this list.
