Kansas City Chiefs 2013 Season

The inaugural season of Andy Reid’s regime for the Kansas City Chiefs got off to a bit of a fast start. The Chiefs ripped off nine straight wins to start the season, en route to an 11 win year and a playoff berth. It was a season that was somewhat hot and cold for KC. Though they recorded an impressive 11-5 record, it was well-noted that the Chiefs played a relatively soft schedule.

Of course, what most Chiefs fans remember from this year is that the Chiefs gave up a horrific comeback to the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Wild Card round. That game left a bitter taste in the mouths of many in Chiefs Kingdom, and continues to be a source of criticism.

Though the 2013 season ended on a very sour note, the season was a huge success when put into context. The Chiefs had been a 2-14 team the year before. In fact, there hadn’t been much success at all in Kansas City prior to that. The Chiefs had just two winning seasons since the Dick Vermeil era in KC before Andy Reid took over.
