Kansas City Chiefs: Andy Reid Just Keeps Winning
By Ben Almquist
Since coming to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013, all head coach Andy Reid has done is win. The Chiefs now have four winning seasons in four years with Reid.
In all the excitement of the Kansas City Chiefs thrilling 29-28 win in Atlanta, you may have overlooked something important. The Kansas City Chiefs are currently 9-3, which means the Chiefs have had a winning season every year under Andy Reid. That is better than any coach in Kansas City history.
It has been an interesting road for the Chiefs under Andy Reid, who took over a 2-14 team when he arrived in 2013. Kansas City Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt was under public pressure to make a huge splash after several failed regimes. To make that splash, Hunt pursued a head coach with a proven track record for winning.
Upon arriving in Kansas City, Andy Reid wasted little time in getting people around him that he felt comfortable with. That included General Manager John Dorsey who has been tasked with supplying the talent Reid needs to keep the Chiefs winning. The Chiefs new coach also brought in Alex Smith to be the team’s quarterback, in an oft-second guessed move.
Regardless of the second guessing of Alex Smith, and numerous other decisions, Andy Reid has simply won games since coming to Kansas City. If the Chiefs 2016 season continues on its current trajectory, Chiefs fans should get very excited about where this team will end up. In the meantime, here is a quick review of how the Chiefs have gotten to where they are.
