The Kansas City Chiefs came out of Atlanta with yet another thrilling victory. The Chiefs now sit at 9-3 and a strong position in the AFC playoff picture.

I’m not sure how Kansas City Chiefs fans will make it through the rest of this season. Not with the way this team manages to play every single game down to the wire. The Chiefs played one of the most thrilling games of the year last week in an overtime victory over the Denver Broncos. So of course they had to find a way to out-do that this week.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The Atlanta Falcons are a very good football team, and may be the single best offense in the NFL. However, the Chiefs looked largely undaunted by that fact today. The Kansas City defense gave up yards and points, as expected, but came through with huge plays at key moments to help secure the win for the Chiefs.

The game, almost fittingly, was decided on an Eric Berry interception on a two-point conversion that was returned all the way for two. You couldn’t script this better. It was Berry’s second interception of the day, and also his second visit to the endzone on the day.

I’m not sure I can take much more of this. In back to back weeks, the Chiefs have gone on the road against a likely playoff team and walked out with a thrilling victory. The ratings for the NFL are down right now. The answer is clearly to start showing more Chiefs games on national broadcasts. For whatever reason, this team is rising to the challenge right now.

As much fun as it is for Chiefs fans to watch, I can’t imagine how much fun the players and coaches are having right now. Kansas City actually called a fake punt today. Not only did it work, but Albert Wilson broke free into the second level and ran 55 yards for a touchdown. C’mon man, that’s a play you draw up in the back yard.

I can go on and on about this game, but believe me when I say it will be covered this week. By far this was not the cleanest game the Chiefs played, but it was probably the most exciting. The Chiefs offense, defense, and special teams all stepped up with huge plays this week. To do that against a top tier opponent should give Chiefs Kingdom a lot of confidence moving forward.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 9-3 with a big prime-time showdown against the Raiders on Thursday night. That game could very well be the deciding match up in the AFC West, as well as in terms of #1 or #2 in the AFC playoff race. Meanwhile, Andy Reid has secured his fourth winning season in four years for the Chiefs. Not too shabby.
