The KU basketball team faces another big name school this weekend as the Jayhawks welcome the Stanford Cardinal to Allen Fieldhouse.
The Kansas Jayhawks hope to continue their home success against Stanford Saturday afternoon. There are a couple of storylines involved in this match-up.
Jayhawks fans will be welcoming the return one of their own, Jerod Hasse, who played for KU two decades ago, is the head coach for Stanford. Haase was a terrific player who averaged 12.5 points a game in his three seasons at Kansas.
He was known has a player who left it all on the court and authored the book, Floor Burns, about his time as a Jayhawk.
Haase told The Kansas City Star that emotions will be high.
"…I know it will be emotional. Hopefully I can get the team and myself to stay focused at the task at hand, (but) the number of memories and feelings about that place for me … it’s not possible to put into words. It will be exciting from that standpoint…"
Stanford also ousted the Jayhawks from the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Hopefully, there will be better results this outing.

The Jayhawks will need to diffuse the Cardinal early, as Stanford may feed off their coach’s emotions. The Phog fans will surely welcome Haase enthusiastically, something which most visiting coaching do not get to experience.
Kansas and Stanford have two different ideas on the tempo at which the game needs to be played. Kansas is averaging 85.1 points per game, with five games at 83 points or above. The Cardinal average 66.4 points, with six of their games at 67 points or lower.
Kansas has been using a lineup with just one traditional big man of late, cashing in on their strength, which is a fantastic backcourt. Despite a smaller lineup, the Jayhawks are outrebounding their opponents by 7.3 a game.
KU doesn’t have a single dominating rebounder, but they do have five players who average five or more caroms per outing.

The KU basketball team should be challenged by Stanford, who comes in with losses to Miami and St. Mary’s, but the Cardinal should be playing with a lot of emotion. Kansas needs to take control of the game early and maintain that throughout the game.
It will be fantastic to see Jerod Haase back in the Phog, but the Kansas Jayhawks still need to take care of the Cardinal at home.
