Can Alex Smith Rebound?

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has been a contentious subject for Chiefs Kingdom since he  was signed. There are signs that this is coming to a head. Jason Cole of Bleacher Report put out a statement that the Chiefs may make a decision at quarterback for 2017 based on how Smith finishes the year. The Chiefs quarterback hasn’t made a strong case for himself.

Alex Smith didn’t play bad last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In fact, except for one poorly timed interception, Smith played a very solid game on a day the Chiefs needed it. However, that one interception was at a critical point. Also, a disappointing loss just one week after a pathetic showing against Carolina is weighing heavily.

The Kansas City Chiefs need a rebound performance this week, but Alex Smith needs it even more. The only way to silence his critics is to win these big games and play well. Smith doesn’t have the best history against the Broncos, so a big game would go a long way. Chiefs fans have been waiting for him to step up. Now would really be a good time for him to do it.

The Kansas City Chiefs are still in a solid position for a playoff run. However, winning the next three games would certainly put them in a much stronger position. At 7-3, nothing is guaranteed for the Chiefs. However, they are still in control of their own destiny. There is no substitute for winning in the National Football League. The Chiefs need a win this week.
