Testing The Depth

The best teams in the NFL are the ones that can deal with injuries because they have solid depth. So far this year, Kansas City has proven themselves to be one of those teams. The Chiefs have won games without a number of starters, some of them among the best at their positions in the league.

This week, the pressure will especially be on the defensive line. The Chiefs have struggled against the run all season. The Buccaneers have not been a good rushing team, but Doug Martin has made his return and should be at full speed this week. The backup unit will have to step up to the plate to limit his

The secondary will also have to step up their game this week. With Marcus Peters limited at best, the Chiefs will have to rely heavily on Steven Nelson and DJ White. Neither is a good match up against Mike Evans.

Despite missing so many key players, the Chiefs defense will expected to remain a strength for the team. To do so, the team is going to have to rely heavily on the pass rush provided by Dee Ford, Tamba Hali, and Chris Jones. Fortunately, this group should be getting some reinforcements this week in Justin Houston.
