Wide Receiver

Maclin or Cooks?

This is probably the toughest option this week, as both teams have a solid number one wide receiver on their roster. The Chiefs have former Missouri Tiger Jeremy Maclin and the Saints have youngster Brandin Cooks.

If Jeremy Maclin had Drew Brees throwing to him, he’d be the easy choice in this one, but he doesn’t.

Cooks has brought a lot of upside to New Orleans. He’s fast and Drew Brees loves getting the football to him. He’s had a 98-yard touchdown this year too, which you never see from Kansas City these days.

Maclin, on the other hand, is probably the better option between the two. He’s a better route runner and doesn’t struggle as much against top cornerbacks (which Cooks does). Maclin also has more experience in the league, but Cooks is still a fantastic talent and will be one of the best receivers in the game in a few years.

If Jeremy Maclin had Drew Brees throwing to him, he’d be the easy choice in this one, but he doesn’t. He has Alex Smith, who showed a lot of trust in Maclin last year, helping him pass 1,000 yards receiving.

The two haven’t been on the same page much this year, but that could definitely change against this bad Saints defense.
