Chris Young

Chris Young… This is a guy that a lot of people in Kansas City have mixed feelings on. On the one hand, he helped win this team a championship in 2015, but on the other hand… He’s been downright terrible in 2016.

Despite Young’s poor play in 2016, he’s still on contract for next season, and that automatically makes him an option for the rotation.

Young showed that he wore out easily in 2015 and was shuffled to and from the bullpen and rotation more times than I can count. When he was announced to be apart of the rotation in 2016, fans were a little surprised.

That surprise turned into annoyance, as Young struggled constantly in a starting role, and honestly just in general. He has a 6.46 ERA in 32 total games and 13 starts.

Young’s problem is that he gives up WAY too many fly balls, which typically lead to home runs. Even at Kauffman Stadium, what’s considered to be a pitcher’s park, Young has struggled to keep the ball in the yard.

Despite Young’s poor play in 2016, he’s still on contract for next season, and that automatically makes him an option for the rotation. He can’t be much worse than this year, right?
