Playoff Implications

With each of the four teams figuring to be in the playoff hunt, the Kansas City Chiefs really cannot afford to lose more than one of these games.  The Chiefs especially need to win on the road against Oakland as that is a divisional match up.  However, the other teams present potentially crucial playoff scenarios as well.

Both the Jets and the Texans may be involved in the AFC Wild Card picture.  That could be a scenario the Chiefs are involved in as well if the Broncos or Raiders can take the AFC West.  Kansas City does not want to be in a 10-6 tie with these teams while having a loss to one or both on their record.  That is an ugly way to miss the playoffs.

If the Chiefs do win the AFC West (and they should), then the Steelers likely come into play.  Securing a “Bye” week or even home field in the playoffs is a huge advantage.  There is a chance that it is decided in Week 4 of the regular season when the Chiefs take on the Steelers.

You don’t want to lose any games in the NFL.  At the same time, you know some games will be lost.  However, these next four are all very important…and very tough games.  The Chiefs need to come away from this stretch with a winning record.  That would put Kansas City in a strong position to make a run at the playoffs.
