Potential September Call-Ups – Number 3: Brooks Pounders

Brooks Pounders was an intriguing prospect when initially called up in July. He appeared in four games for the Royals and earned his first career win in only his second appearance.

It was after that, however, that Pounders went downhill, and fast. He sports a 13.50 ERA with a 1-1 record and gave up three home runs in only 4.2 innings pitched.

Despite the bad ERA, Pounders will be a shoe-in to be called up for the Royals in September. He’s on the 40-man roster and his 3.29 minor league ERA isn’t too shabby. He has a 5-3 record in Omaha in seven starts and 30 total appearances.

While Pounders probably won’t be used in a clutch situation, he’s still going to be re-joining the Royals in September and hopefully he won’t get pounded again on the mound.
