Chiefs to Watch During Preseason – Number 5: Demarcus Robinson

Demarcus Robinson was drafted by the KC Chiefs in the fourth round of this year’s draft and he could certainly be someone who makes a huge contribution in the coming years.

Robinson had some problems while at Florida, but he still led their team in receptions during his tenure there. John Dorsey obviously saw some talent in the former Gator to bring him on despite his troubled past at Florida.

My co-editor Ben Almquist did a nice piece on how Robinson was impressing in training camp, and I agree with him.

The Chiefs have been in search of a solid number two wide receiver for a long time now. Remember Donnie Avery? Steve Breaston? These were guys who were supposed to come and be the second string receiver, but never panned out. It’s been an ongoing cycle for the Chiefs, and Robinson is someone who can eventually fill that void.

He’s able to go down field for the “deep ball” (please keep your Alex Smith jokes to yourself) and can work out of the slot as well. This is the type of guy who should excel in the Chiefs’ system.

Keep an eye on Demarcus Robinson during preseason. He might surprise you.
