Buyer Beware!

You may have noticed some marquee names missing from this list of fantasy football quarterbacks.  No Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, or Jay Cutler, among others.  Why is that?  Because these are the players you need to be wary of this year.  Each of these quarterbacks has had struggles over the past couple of years, and their 2016 season could go any direction.

Matt Ryan has become dependent upon Julio Jones, and the Falcons offense has suffered for it.  Unless he can regain confidence in the rest of his targets, he is bound to disappoint his owners.  Someone is going to take him early in your fantasy draft…don’t be that guy.  If Ryan is still available after the sixth, then he would be worth a pick.

Matt Stafford is in an even worse situation than Matt Ryan.  Stafford was dependent upon Calvin Johnson for his numbers…and now Johnson is gone.  Stafford is going to struggle this year without his big play option.  Take him in the eighth if he is still there, but not before.

Jay Cutler…is Jay Cutler.  He could very well have an all star season for his Fantasy Football owner, or he could completely tank this season and be the bane of your team.  Fantasy players seem to draft Cutler far to early nearly every year, and he almost always blows up in their face.  I’m not even looking his direction until after I have myself another quarterback on the roster.

Don’t be fooled by big names and past accomplishments.  If you’re looking to win your league, you need to be the smart player.  Get the best value you can out of your fantasy football quarterbacks.  If you can’t get one of the top names, don’t force the issue.  Bide your time and get a second tier guy down the line.
