2016 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks: Number Six – Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

I have seen Roethlisberger as high up as third on a number of Fantasy Football expert boards. It’s not that those pundits are wrong, I just don’t see him playing a full season and that will cut into his productivity.  When he is available, Roethlisberger is one of the premier quarterbacks in the league.  However, the chance for injury is an almost certainty with him.

Big Play Threats Everywhere: Ben Roethlisberger is surrounded by some of the absolute best talent in the NFL.  That includes an angry Antonio Brown who is playing for a new contract.  That will be a nightmare for the rest of the NFL, but will also draw coverage away from Big Ben’s other targets.  He’s a great investment to lead your team.

Will Big Ben Stay Healthy? This is always the question with Roethlisberger.  He takes a lot of hits over the course of the season.  During his career, Roethlisberger has only played a complete season three times in thirteen years.  As he gets older, that’s only likely to become more and more of a concern.

Draft Value – 4th Round: Someone in your league is probably going to take Ben Roethlisberger too early.  The Pittsburgh Steelers are an immensely popular team, and their fans are die hard loyalists…which means they will ruin your draft by taking all Steelers with their first three picks.  If you avoid that nightmare, Roethlisberger is good value in the quarterback run.
