Chris Young Vs. Nick Tropeano

Chris Young finally dazzled the fans with some of his mystical ‘invisiballs’ on Friday night. He struck out ten batters through six innings and only gave up two runs on four hits for his first win of the season.

His first outing of the season didn’t go too poorly either. It didn’t help him any that he went against Noah Syndergaard and Sonny Gray in two of his first three starts.

Unfortunately, the Angels have had a good amount of success against Young and he’ll need to be on top of his game to see a similar result to Friday.

More from Kansas City Royals

The Angels are 19-55 against Chris Young overall for a batting average of .345. Albert Pujols has a home run against him as do Kole Calhoun and Geovany Soto. Soto actually has two home runs and Calhoun is 4-4 against Young.

The Royals don’t have much experience at all against Nick Tropeano. In fact, the only Royals’ hitter to have seen him is Kendrys Morales. He’s got just two at-bats and he is 0-2 in those at-bats.

If there is any one player on the Royals that is going to be able to utilize those at-bats to help the Royals it’s Morales. He’s been known to help the rest of the players see what a pitcher is going to throw and spotting their tendencies.

So far this season, Tropeano is 1-0 in three games started with a 1.69 ERA on the year. He’s given up 15 hits and eight walks in 15 16 innings of work and has struck out 14.
