Yordano Ventura Vs Shane Greene

The first match-up of the series features a couple of young hurlers. Yordano Ventura is only 24 years old and is pitching in his fourth season. Shane Greene is 27 but only made his debut in 2014.

In his career, Greene has made two appearances against the Royals including one last season with the Tigers. The Tigers lost that game 2-1. In his two games against the Royals, Greene has an ERA of 0.69 in 13 innings of work. He’s given up nine hits and allowed three walks.

Yordano Ventura has had much more experience against the Tigers, but he’s been hit hard by a few of those Tigers.

Victor Martinez and Ian Kinsler may be the most problematic for Ventura. Martinez is 4-13 with two home runs and five RBIs. Kinsler is 5-13 and also has 5 RBIs.

He’s got mixed results against Anthony Gose with four hits allowed but also six strikeouts in ten at-bats. He’s made five career starts against the Tigers and has an ERA of 3.86. In spite of the rough outings, he’s got a 4-0 record and does have a strikeout per inning against the tigers.

Royals’ fans will hope for a performance like the one above out of the young flamethrower.

So far this season, Ventura hasn’t earned a win in two starts. He does have a 2.45 ERA across 11 innings of work, but has allowed nine walks. The good news is that he seems to have developed a good change-up that he used to baffle Astros hitters last week.

Greene is also off to a good start this season. He’s only made one start, but in that start he lasted six innings. He gave up three hits and three walks while striking out seven and earning the win.
