Biggest Draft Busts Since 2011 – Number 3: Sanders Commings

The 2013 NFL Draft was not a great one for Kansas City, as you’ll see two guys from that draft on this list. The first of which is Sanders Commings, whom the Chiefs drafted in the fifth round out of Georgia.

Here was a guy who many thought was a steal in the 2013 NFL Draft, but injuries killed his career and he ended his two-year pro career with no stats in the two games he played in.

Commings’ downfall was the fact that he could not stay healthy. He broke his collarbone before his rookie season began, only playing in two games that year. He then broke his ankle before the 2014 season and didn’t play a single game that season.

The Chiefs grew impatient with all of the injuries, and Commings became expendable. Before the 2015 season began, he was waived by the team.

Surprisingly, Commings was not signed elsewhere and goes down as one of the most disappointing draft picks for the team in recent history. Here was a guy who many thought was a steal in the 2013 NFL Draft, but injuries killed his career and he ended his two-year pro career with no stats in the two games he played in.

Coming from a school like Georgia (where the Chiefs seem to like drafting from), many had high hopes for Commings, but the guy could never stay healthy and rarely saw the field.
