KC Chiefs Roster Options After Houston ACL Catastrophe
By Bobby Miller
Dee Ford
When Dee Ford was drafted with the 23rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, it was assumed that Ford would be Hali’s heir-apparent. If Hali’s contract extension wasn’t an indication of contrary, then the signing of Massaquoi, Obada, and Kieras made it abundantly clear.

It appears as though the Chiefs are unsatisfied with Ford’s inability to become a full-time starter. Also, let’s be honest, they are probably not too pleased with having to pay for Hali’s worst years of his career, even if Hali is still productive.
This may be why they are making things as difficult as possible for Ford. The organization, fans, and even my colleague Matt Verderame agree that Ford needs to step up.
In my view, this appears to be Ford’s last chance to fulfill his destiny as Hali’s heir similar to the way Aragorn did as Isildur’s. Last year against the Chargers he recorded seven tackles, three sacks, and one pass deflection.
If he can put up those types of numbers consistently, then Ford is more than capable of filling in at left outside linebacker.
