This list started with Eric Hosmer on third, and just like years of frustration, this list will end with Eric Hosmer on third.

Eric Hosmer had had some huge postseason hits for the Royals in his career. That doesn’t exclude this one:

Hosmer did what he does best in this scenario. There was runner on base and Eric Hosmer found a way to plate him. Mike Moustakas would move Hosmer over to third with one out in the top of the ninth inning.

That’s when the magic happened:

As Hosmer took his calculated risk on his daring dash towards home plate, fans watched with baited breath. It was more than just a sprint of about 80 feet from his lead-off position to the promised land.

With him, he carried 30 years of frustration. He carried the hopes and dreams of an entire city. He proved out what can happen when the pressure is on and the game is on the line. This time, Hosmer made a statement. No longer was Kansas City going to sit idly by and watch a championship be stolen out from under them. They got to this situation by applying pressure and Eric Hosmer helped drive the final nail in the coffin by maintaining the game plan.
