Kansas City Chiefs: Good, Bad, Ugly In 2016 Free Agency
The Ugly: Losing draft picks
This doesn’t necessarily go with this year’s free agency, but it was announced on Wednesday and surrounds last year’s free agency, so it goes here.

The KC Chiefs lost a third round pick in this year’s draft and will lose a sixth round pick next year due to tampering during last year’s free agency period. Allegedly, the Chiefs spoke to Jeremy Maclin before the negotiating period began, and now they’re being punished for it.
Andy Reid and Dorsey were both fined as well as the organization. The team is expected to appeal.
I’ve seen some people saying that “Oh that’s fine. A third round pick was worth it for Maclin.” Here’s the issue with that. The Chiefs didn’t trade anything for Maclin! They signed him. They shouldn’t have to give up a draft pick.
Plus, the Chiefs have gotten a hell of a lot of talent in the third round since Dorsey arrived. They got Travis Kelce in 2013, Phillip Gaines in 2014, and Chris Conley in the third round last year. They get some quality players in the third round, and this punishment absolutely sucks.
Hopefully, this gets appealed because the Chiefs are really getting screwed over on this one.
