KC Royals: Getting To Know Veteran Infielder Clint Barmes
By Scott Dillon
“There have been a couple of big moments for the Royals in the past couple of postseasons that saw them stage some unbelievable come from behind wins. How much does team chemistry come into play in something like that and how much of that can be credited to skill and natural talent?”
"Well, obviously, anyone that’s played at this level and that has spent some time at this level is very much gifted and very blessed with talent. You’re not just going to get here just for being a nice guy by any means. Obviously everybody in that clubhouse is very talented and very gifted. But, when you get a group of guys that start playing for each other as opposed to just what they’re doing on a personal level, and you take it to that next level of guys picking each other up and doing whatever it takes to get the win without caring about who is going to get the most recognition for the win. I’ve been fortunate enough to play on some teams that have had that. It’s rare. It’s hard to find and I think it’s huge.”"

“Have you had a chance to be a part of any big, late-game comebacks like that, either on one side or the other, and what is that like?”
"“Obviously it’s a great feeling. When you go out and you are getting beat late, I’ve been with groups and teams, it doesn’t seem to matter what the situation but you play until the last out is made. You never give up on a game. That’s easier said than done obviously. So when you’re with a group that plays until that last out is made no matter what the situation, good things can come of that. Obviously, they’ve proven that and they’ve shown that. For me, I’m nothing but excited to be here and hope to be a part of it”"
