Five: Royals lost 10-0. New season ticket holders immediately regret decision.

Yes, the KC Royals lost a baseball game. Yes, it wasn’t pretty. Losing any baseball game 10-0 is going to sting. The bottom line is: None of it matters.

The final score is irrelevant. The score of the game could have been 30-0 and the Royals would be no worse or no better for it. Perhaps the only thing it means is the non-roster invitees who got pounded, still belong in the minors.

More from Kansas City Royals

Edinson Volquez did take the loss, but only gave up one run. That run may not have happened if not for the sun being poorly positioned. Apparently, even the solar system is targeting the Royals.

The other pitchers who gave up runs were Christian Binford, Aroni Nina, and Brooks Pounders. All are still in the minor leagues and their outings probably prove that they still belong there. Any one of them could turn in phenomenal performances the rest of the spring and they would still likely wind up in the minors.

There is also some good news here. Miguel Almonte looked really good for the Royals. Almonte threw two innings for the Royals and gave up two hits and a walk while striking out three batters. He allowed no runs in his outing.

The Royals’ bats have yet to wake up and the pitching has been less than stellar for the most part. It’s not what Royals’ fans have grown accustomed to over the past couple of seasons. So far, the only pitcher to appear that’s a lock for the opening day roster is Edinson Volquez. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just another reason no one should be worried yet.
