KC Royals: Top Ten Web Gems 2015 Regular Season
By Scott Dillon
Number 10: Colon And Esky Turn Two
Rangers at Royals, June Sixth
One of the players who’ll be battling for the second base job has a role in this web gem.
This game turned out to be a losing effort for the Royals and took place during a stretch in which Yordano Ventura looked downright terrible.
The Royals were down four runs and hadn’t even made it out of the second inning. While this play wasn’t enough to spark a four-run rally, it was certainly enough to earn some hat tipping.
The play was actually salvaged by Alcides Escobar. The throw by Christian Colon was offline and Escobar still managed to bare-hand it.
More impressively he was able to maneuver a flailing Prince Fielder to turn the double play. Standing in the way of a rumbling, bumbling, stumbling Prince Fielder is a tall task considering he’s a mountain of a man.
