Greg Holland

While Greg Holland won’t be pitching for the Royals in 2016 due to needing Tommy John surgery, he’s still been a critical part of this team. That is why he will not be excluded from this walk-out music post.

Holland, from North Carolina, was given the nickname “Dirty South” by fans. It wasn’t one that ever really got thrown around as much (not as much as Moose, but more than Gordy), but it was a good nickname for the former Western Carolina University pitcher.

More from Kansas City Royals

Holland was a fan favorite in Kansas City, especially during the 2014 season where the team managed to make it all the way to Game 7 of the World Series. His ability to enter games where the pressure was the highest and not even look phased was incredible.

For two straight years (2013 and 2014), Holland posted an ERA under 2.00 (1.21 in 2013, 1.44 in 2014), and gave up a combined six home runs. The dude was a monster.

The other team knew that if they were down heading into the final inning (really the last three because of H-D-H) that their time was up.

This is why Greg Holland’s song is “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins.

I thought about giving Holland some type of walk-out song that showcased his southern roots, but “Danger Zone” just fit him so much better. I doubt anyone would complain getting to run out of the bullpen to this classic.
