How can the KC Royals avoid this outcome?

Dayton Moore and the rest of the Royals front office face a very difficult test after the 2017 season. Five of their core players will have contracts that expire and it will be very difficult to retain the majority of these free agents.

The Royals will have to do what they can to retain those players they feel still can provide value at a price that will not handcuff the Royals.

The Royals need to continue taking an in-depth look at their roster and evaluate what moves they need to make to continue winning.

In baseball, like many professional sports, nothing is guarnateed and teams can go from the playoffs to the bottom of their division in just a year. Dayton Moore has been evaluating this roster since day one and has a plan in place.

The fans can only wonder what the process of roster evaluation is like behind closed doors. Fans spend so much time on the twitter debating what different moves need to be made for their favorite teams. The next section is a hypothetical scenario where the fans get a look at what that process might look like.

Imagine Dayton Moore is in an office somewhere right now. He is ranking the players due to hit free agency and providing  projections for these players.

What do you imagine the list would say? (Ages listed will be player’s age upon entering free agency)
