Eric Berry, Safety (Kansas City)

Now we come to the signing that most of Chiefs Kingdom would like to see happen: Eric Berry back in a Chiefs uniform in 2016 and beyond.

Eric Berry was the heart and soul of the defense this year. He was a inspiration to athletes and people every where, so much so that he won NFL Comeback Player Of The Year Award at the NFL honors night.

More from Chiefs Free Agency

He is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, and deserves to get a good contract. There has been talks that there is a good chance that the Chiefs will sign him to a new contract stating they were “ramping up” talks with Berry’s representatives, according to Pro Football Talk.

This year, Berry accounted for 55 solo tackles along with two interceptions. It’d be great to see him return to Arrowhead Stadium as a member of the Chiefs.

That shows that there is a priority for the safety, who was a huge leader on the field, and in the locker room. The Chiefs defense has a lot of playmakers and Dorsey needs to act on keeping it that way.

Players like Berry don’t come around very often, so when they do, lock them up. If the Chiefs can keep Berry, bring back at least Derrick Johnson, and sign another corner back to replace the probably departing Sean Smith, then the Chiefs will be in business in 2016.
