Kansas City Royals all-time wins leaders: 8. Charlie Leibrandt (76 wins)

Charlie Leibrandt spent a total of six years in a Royals uniform and posted 76 wins during that span. He cracked Kings of Kauffman’s top pitchers of all-time list, coming in at number eight on there as well.

Leibrandt was one of Kansas City’s best pitchers, but he was not known for his success in the postseason Here’s what Kings of Kauffman had to say on Leibrandt,

"Charlie Leibrandt is mainly remembered for his struggles in the postseason. Despite a sold 3.77 career postseason ERA and a 1.256 WHIP, he was only 1-7 in 13 career playoff appearances. Yet, without Leibrandt, it could be argued that the Royals would not have won the World Series in 1985."

Leibrandt had a tremendous regular season in 85, starting 33 games and eight complete games in 237.2 innings pitched with an ERA of 2.69. It was the best season of Leibrandt’s 14-year career.

More from Royals All-Time Lists

Leibrandt really struggled against Toronto in the 1985 ALCS, giving up nine runs in only 15.1 innings pitched and an ERA of 5.28 (still doesn’t touch the 11.25 ERA he sported in the 1991 World Series when he was with the Braves. Yikes).

While Charlie Leibrandt might not have been a great starter in the postseason, he pitched extremely well for the Royals during the 1985 season and won a career-high 17 games. He came in fifth in Cy Young voting that year as well.

Leibrandt will go down as one of the best pitchers the Kansas City Royals have ever seen, and that is just another reason why he makes this list at number eight.
