Kansas City Chiefs: Way Too Early 2016 NFL Mock Draft
Round 6 – Pick 185: William Jackson III (Cornerback, Houston)
By the time the sixth round rolls around, the Chiefs have added three players on offense and three players on defense. They decide to add one last defensive player, and they do so by selecting William Jackson III out of Houston.
The Chiefs will likely be parting ways with cornerback Sean Smith this offseason, and could also see safeties Husain Abdullah and Eric Berry leave as well. The point being that the KC secondary could be pretty thin by the time preseason football arrives.

Jackson had a great season in 2015 for the Houston Cougars. He had five interceptions to go along with his 43 tackles. He could be a deep sleeper as far as cornerbacks go in Kansas City, and who knows? He could see starting time behind Phillip Gaines and Marcus Peters next season.
Jackson was the first pick in this draft where I did not select the best available player. The best available players by this point in time were all wide receivers, and the Chiefs already have selected two in this draft. It didn’t seem right to take yet another receiver over another need for the team.
The crazy thing about this pick is that it’s amazing how far Jackson dropped. He is considered a second round pick by CBS Sports and for him to fall all the way to the SIXTH round is simply unfathomable.
So, yes, while adding William Jackson III to the Chiefs roster would be nice, this pick isn’t very realistic.
