Kansas City Chiefs: Five Recent Rivals To Loathe

Peyton Manning has absolutely owned the Kansas City Chiefs in his 18 year career, and while I don’t necessarily dislike the guy, it’s hard not to be annoyed with him for always whooping your team’s butt.
Since joining the NFL in 1998, Manning has recorded a respectable 14-2 record against Kansas City including a big win for him in the 2003 postseason where neither team could force a punt.
The first time the Chiefs beat Manning was on Halloween in 2004 when they won 45-35, but Manning threw for five touchdowns in that game. Little did Chiefs fans know that that game wasn’t the beginning of a beautiful rivalry, but rather a one-sided rivalry.
It’s fitting somehow that when Manning broke Brett Favre’s record for most passing yards ever that he was also benched, and all of this came against the Kansas City Chiefs.
For the next 11 years, Manning owned Kansas City. The Chiefs and Colts didn’t meet a whole lot during that time, but once Manning was released by Indianapolis and signed with Denver in 2012, it was a whole new ball game.
Manning went on to sweep the Chiefs for three straight seasons and looked to be going for his fourth in 2015. After the Broncos barely edged out a win in the first meeting in 2015, the Chiefs finally got their revenge on the former number one overall pick.
Kansas City picked Manning off four times on their way to a 29-13 victory in Denver, their first against the Broncos since the 2011 season when Tim Tebow was still there. The Chiefs made Manning look so bad in this one that they actually got him benched in favor of Brock Osweiler.

I just want to say that I don’t dislike Peyton Manning.
Sure, his commercials are annoying and I hate that he always found a way to win against the Chiefs, but still… He’s a legend. He’s one of the best quarterbacks of all-time and getting to watch him play was pretty cool.
It sucks that he had to go out the way he did, but I’m glad the Chiefs got their last licking in before Manning called it quits.
Life is so much more peaceful now.
